sarnie

Sandwich: I'm going to get a salad sarnie for lunch.

Editor's comments: This is a British colloquialism and is not very common in Australia.

Contributor's comments: I don't agree with the editor that 'sarnie' is uncommon in Australia (though I do realise that it's a phrase of English origin). I grew up in South Australia (all around the place) and also lived in Sydney for a good 5 years. I'd say that a 'vegemite sarnie' is a well known cry in both those states.
