Contributor's comments: In WA we use the term 'sluggers' all the time, even in the country. Not sluggos but 'sluggers'.
Contributor's comments: I have always known them as sluggoes and no self respecting male in the area will wear them. As a swimming teacher getting teenage boys to wear them instead of big baggy boardies to do their timed swims, etc., is next [to] impossible - only will do so if failing to do the distance in the time, depending on the physique as to whether they look any good. Same as a bikini.
Contributor's comments: Growing up in Perth the boys would all be very disparaging about their sluggers or "cock-jocks" and much preferred to swim in footy shorts. I've noticed since moving around Australia that the term is becoming more widely recognised in the last few years than when I left WA 10 yrs ago.
