Hector

Renowned thunderstorm that occurs in the Tiwi Islands about 2pm 70% of days in the build up: Better packup before Hector arrives.

Contributor's comments: I first came across this term in 1973, possibly soon after it was coined by the officers in the Darwin Bureau of Meteorology. From their offices they could see the cumulous cloud developing above the Tiwi Islands every day during "the buildup" and "the wet" and they had given it the name "Hector". It is reputedly the highest regular cumulous cloud formation in the world.
