milky

a deliverer of milk, usually to your home. In other states milko is commonly used: Put the money out for the milky.

Contributor's comments: [Melbourne informant] Always used to refer to the milky when I was a child.

Contributor's comments: It's always been Milko rather than milky wherever I've lived and indeed I worked for a number of years for the ACT Milk Vendors Assoc (the last place with real milk bottles in Aus) and every one of the 70 owners were Milkos not milkys.

Contributor's comments: Growing up in SA we always called the Milky in the late 1960s-70s. The Name was also in use in Port Lincoln EP in 1980s and at Stansbury SA in 1960s. Milko seems to have come in with national TV programs.
