tweeds

trousers - probably a carry over from our British heritage: You've spilt your schooner on your new tweeds.

Editor's comments: Is this a common or current term anywhere?

Contributor's comments: I can remember hearing this term used in Victoria during the sixties from older, fairly conservative people at the time and I haven't heard the term used for years. Another word for trousers is strides or dacks (also underdacks for underwear). Cords is another term used for corduroy trousers. Another term for men's tuxedo is a 'Penguin suit'.

Contributor's comments: We always used "cords" on the North Coast (Mur'bah) for corduroy pants, esp in th 90's grunge era. Still use it Sydney now.
