Mens white patent leather shoes: "Did you see that bloke at the nightclub wearing those brothel creepers?" My father used this term - I believe it may be from the '50s/'60s.

Contributor's comments: I heard this term used in Sydney in the 1960s to refer to brown or tan suede desert boots.

Contributor's comments: A Britishism I think. Used in the 1950s of men's suede shoes with very large rubber ripple soles, enabling one to creep about silently.
