a lock of hair sticking up or out from the head, looking like part of a cockatoo's crest: 'Did you know you have a cocky?' and the person smoothes down their hair. (Prob obsolete now: used 1940s, 50s, 60s, but now (city) people think of 'cocky' as meaning cockroach.

a lookout person for a burglary or someone keeping a lookout for someone else while their companions do something not quite legal or proper: 'Keep a cocky (ie cockatoo) for me mate' can be used for anything from taking a roadside pee to a house robbery.
