whippy1

the place where you hide your face when playing hide-and-go-seek: You might accuse someone of being a "whippy sticker", meaning they did not move far enough away from the whippy when looking for the hidden ones. This was because the hidden ones needed a fair chance to run back to the whippy and say "1,2,3 home" before the person who was "in" did so.

Contributor's comments: Always called the whippy in West Ryde in the 1970s.
