Contributor's comments: Definitely in use in Melbourne in early 70s. The 1971 Monash Uni Student Orientation handbook had a cartoon in which the evil villain used a condom ray gun. When fired, the gun emitted the noise "frang... frang... frang... ".
Contributor's comments: Franger was the common term in mid north SA in the 1980's for condom, no other term was ever really used. when I mentioned it to my Sydney boyfriend in the early 90's he fell about laughing as he had never heard it.
