Editor's comments: Is this a shortening of 'dart'? Which is a slang word for a cigarette.

Contributor's comments: Never heard it before. To which area of Australia is it "regional"? And what is the word's etymology? Is it eponymous? It bears no apparent resemblance or connection to the word "cigarette."

Contributor's comments: Dar - Dart . It originated from "Darting out for a ciggie between breaks" Don't know where it originated from but I remember using this term in the 70's.

Contributor's comments: Living in Wangaratta a cigaratte is called a dar or dari. No idea where this comes from although a large majority of people from the region constantly use it.
