Eastern Stater


noun 1.  (in WA) a person who comes from any of the states east of the Nullabor Plain.
2.  (in SA) a person who comes from any of the states east of South Australia.

Contributor's comments: I found recently that South Australians do not like to be referred to as eastern staters.

Contributor's comments: I was surprised on moving to Adelaide from Perth in the early 80s that South Australians called NSW/Vics "eastern staters". I thought the South Aussies were "eastern staters" too!

Contributor's comments: Used to be ESB (Eastern States Bastard) when growing up in Perth.
