Geologist: Worldwide but only by Aussies. Usually used by drillers or other minesite personnel as in "Go ask the rock-doctor what kind of rock it is!" Compare geo.
Contributor's comments: "geo" tends to be more polite whereas "rock-doctor" can be slightly derogatory.
Contributor's comments: Also "rock licker", because us geos will spit on or lick rock samples in order to get a fresh surface to look at.
