Contributor's comments: I thought that the term Yogi came from the South Coast, Batemans Bay in particular. It refers to the ACT number plates, all of which start with the letter Y. A lot of Canberrans go to Batemans Bay of a summer, and are known by the locals as Yogies. I once saw some grafitti that said 'Yogies go home!'
