Contributor's comments: When I first moved to NSW I found that what we in Victoria called a pusher was called stroller or pram here.
Contributor's comments: In Victoria a stoller is a pusher and a pram is a large carriage for a baby. In NSW pram and stroller are frequently interchangeable.
Contributor's comments: [Sydney informant] A stroller is for a young kid to "sit" in and be pushed, it could also be called a pram. A pram is for "laying" a baby in and has a hood, it could never be called a stroller. This was back in the 70s before the newfangled, ergonomic, baby buggies and whatnot existed.
Contributor's comments: "In Perth," is the answer to the above question! Probably now there are all kinds of complicated designs, but when I was growing up in Perth in the 1980s and 1990s, the light, collapsible type of pram was known as a stroller.
Contributor's comments: Stroller was used widely in Brisbane from the 1960s onwards. No other term known to me in Brisbane.
Contributor's comments: I grew up in the Hunter Valley and also around Tamworth. In both these places your baby went in a stroller. When I moved down near Swan Hill I discovered that the word pushers were used instead.
Contributor's comments: In SA both stroller and pram are used. Stroller usually means a more lightweight construction and pram tends to be used for the heavier duty and larger versions.
