a grub, probably the laval stage of a beetle, that burrowed into grass roots. As schoolboys at Devonport Tasmania during early 1940's it was a common seasonal activity 'to go corbying'. This was the 'art' of fishing corbies from their holes with a length of fine wire: The corbies are making a mess of the lawn.
