'On' used instead of 'at' when used with a placename. Believed derived from the Gold Rush period as in 'on the Gold diggings': We haven't had anyone by that name on Fingal before.

Contributor's comments: I’ve not heard ‘on’ used with quite the precision of the above definition. But ‘on’ was definitely used to state that "I lived (in Currie) on King Island".
