Contributor's comments: [Tasmanian informant] My mother referred to a white lie as a taradiddle. It was not as bad as telling a LIE. That she regarded as really serious.
Contributor's comments: I'm also born and bred in Brisbane and this is the first time I've ever come across the word...pretty sure it's not one of ours :)
Contributor's comments: I grew up in Melbourne in the 1950's and know of this term as tarradiddle, meaning white lie but also carrying the connotation of having been caught out in the lie.
