speckie

(Aussie rules footy) a very high mark: Matthew took a speckie over malcolm; Kick it here, I'll chuck a speckie. Also, speccie, specky.

Contributor's comments: [ACT informant] A spectacular mark over someone else in Aussie rules: "Kick it to me, I'll take a specky!"

Contributor's comments: When you take a 'spec'tacular mark/kick: "Hey, you took a 'Speck'tacular mark Specky!"

Contributor's comments: Speccie is also used here in Antarctica to refer to spectacular scenery - it's used at all the the Australian bases. If it is speccie it is worth going to have a look because it is likely to be spectacular icebergs, glaciers or wildlife scenery.

Contributor's comments: I grew up in Townsville and 'speckie' stood for anything that was impressive or spectacular. eg: "your dress is looking speckie".
