In NSW and probably other areas known as gutters on a house - Collects rain from roof of house etc.: My spouting needs replacing (Victoria) - My gutters need replacing (NSW)

Contributor's comments: Had never heard this word until I went to Tasmania. Visitors would chuckle at its use. Have since heard its use in NZ.

Contributor's comments: In Tassie in the 80's, you could also be accused of 'spouting off at the mouth' (also known as talking through the back of your throat) - either talking too much and yet saying little, or talking about stuff which obviously you don't know much about.

Contributor's comments: Insy winsy spider climbed up the water spout in Victoria. In NSW he climbs up the drain pipe.
